How to Commission a Custom Portrait

My paintings are in private collections across the U.S. & Canada

I can paint an original portrait of any pet from the photographs that you supply. The pictures should show the pet's actual color along with any important background detail.* Your photo will be scanned and returned. Please provide me with as much information as possible. Home visits to meet the pet can be arranged. I can also take photographs of your pet, if necessary.*

My style is influenced by the post-impressionists and I creatively seek to capture the energy and essence of the pet. This is accomplished through the use of added metallic and opalescent pigments that enhance the regular acrylic and oil paints. Each portrait is my artistic interpretation of the pet. 

All paintings are acrylic or oil on medium texture cotton duck canvas. All sizes are on Gallery Style 1-1/2" stretchers and all canvases have wrapped edges. Every painting is individually titled and signed. I provide personal documentation that includes a materials list and suggested care for each portrait. 

Work will start after the signing of a contract and receipt of a deposit of 50% (non refundable) of the total cost. If the painting is to be shipped, shipping costs will be added. The remaining 50% is due upon delivery or before the painting is shipped. Payments can be made by personal check, money order or by credit card via PayPal.

Elegant, individually created Gift Certificates are available for special occasions and holidays. You can pay with PayPal and have the Gift Certificate mailed to you or the recipient.

It takes at least two to three months (per subject) to complete each custom portrait. Add an additional week if framing is requested. Special accommodations may be made if a portrait is required within a specific timeframe.  

Any additional fees will be covered in the estimate.
